Overview
The Program to Optimize Simulated Trajectories II (POST2) is a generalized point mass, discrete parameter targeting and optimizationtrajectory simulation program. POST2 provides the capability to target and optimize point mass trajectories for multiple powered or unpowered vehicles near an arbitrary rotating, oblate planet. POST2 has been used successfully to solve a wide variety of atmospheric ascent and reentry problems, as well as exo-atmospheric orbital transfer problems. This flexible simulation capability is augmented by an efficient discrete parameter optimization capability that includes equality and inequality constraints. This version of the software has been overhauled to be thread-safe, enabling usage of multiple compute threads when running optimization problems. A variety of production and development code modules are included that facilitate integration with user-defined terrain and atmosphere. Additionally, an application programming interface (API) provides the ability to call POST2 from other codebases as a library, enabling more applications and use cases. The Commercial Edition includes a subset of the production feature models that are available in the Government Edition.
